Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine has a history of over 1300 years and is the headquarter of the 30,000 inari shrines in Japan. People all over Japan have worshipped this shrine for its blessings in good harvest, business success, and household safety. The numerous torii gateways built on Inariyama Mountain are called ‘Senbon Torii’ (thousand toriis), and is famous for appearing in various animes. The worshippers of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine build the toriis to express their gratitude to the deities of the shrine, so the number of the toriis represents the number of worshippers whose wishes have come true.

Main Sanctuary:The main sanctuary has multiple beautiful carvings, and has remained for over 500 years
The Fox Statues:Foxes are believed to be the messenger of Inari Okami, the main enshrined deity. Therefore, fox statues can be seen everywhere in the precinct.
Senbon Torii:The Senbon Torii begins right before the entrance of Inariyama Mountain.
Omokaru Ishi Stone:The stone placed on top of the stone lantern is called ‘Omokaru Ishi Stone’, and visitors would lift up the stone after making a wish. It is believed that the lighter you feel the stone is, the easier it is to make your wish come true.
Ichinomine Shrine:Ichinomine Shrine sits on the top of Inariyama Mountain. The main blessings that can be received from visiting this shrine are business success and safety in the household.
