Parents from all over Japan visit Gokounomiya Shrine before childbirth to receive blessings from Empress Jingu, the goddess of safe delivery. The sacred water, ‘Gokousui’, which springs up in the precinct of the shrine is famous for its beautiful taste. Gokounomiya Shrine is also popular among the fans of the Japanese Warring States period because both Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu are enshrined in its precinct.

Main Sanctuary:The main sanctuary was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, and is designated as the National Important Cultural Property for its unique architectural style.
Toshogu:Gokounomiya Shrine has built a small shrine in its precinct to enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu to show their gratitude to him for building the main sanctuary.
Hokoku Shrine:This shrine was built in the Meiji Period to pay tribute to Toyotomi Hideyoshi for his strong support to Gokounomiya Shrine.
Gokousui:It is believed that drinking this sacred water would cure all disease.
The Forest of Chinshu:It is believed that there are deities living in this forest that sits behind the main sanctuary.
