Yasaka Shrine

Yasaka Shrine has a history of over 1,150 years and is the head shrine of Gion worship. The main blessings that can be received from visiting this shrine are warding off bad luck and fulfillment of love. The main deity enshrined in Yasaka Shrine is Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and it is believed that a blue dragon lives below the main sanctuary to protect the city of Kyoto. Yasaka Shrine is also famous among the Japanese for the Gion Festival, one of the three major festivals in Japan.
